Description
Elaine De Kooning (1920-1989) is well known for her abstract expressionism combined with semi-realism in her portraits, as seen here in "John F. Kennedy #10". President Kennedy is rendered in black and white, a simple yet expressive depiction of the late president. Elaine de Kooning was commissioned to do a portrait of the president when he was alive, but his assassination occurred before the work was finished. In reaction to the loss, de Kooning did not paint for an entire year. The wife of Willem de Kooning, the de Kooning partnership lead to some of the greatest works in modern art. This oil on masonite artwork is signed and dated, and offered in a silver and black wood frame.
